It costs $1,500 to $5,000 annually to send a student to university in Guatemala, with an average of about $2,300..  This includes tuition, books, room and board, transportation and miscellaneous expenses.  It also includes tutoring and extra mentoring a student or her family may need.  Compared to a University of Colorado education of $39,000+ per year, this is a relatively modest amount but life changing for young women with absolutely no financial resources.

As a sponsor, you will be matched with a particular student.  Sometimes it is even possible to be matched with a student studying in your profession or field of interest.  You will receive periodic updates on your student's progress.  We discourage routine contact with students during studies, but it is often possible to meet your student in-person if you decide to visit Guatemala.  There is nothing more rewarding than meeting your student and her family face-to-face, visiting her home or school, and knowing that you are making a huge difference in her life and that of her community.

A sponsor commits to contributing to a student's education for the duration of her undergraduate time.  We ask for a minimum of $1,500 per year, but it is possible to share a sponsorship with another contributor.  All sponsor donations go to the general scholarship fund and are not necessarily linked directly to a particular student's expenses.   The relationship between student and sponsor is only for the purpose of developing a personal connection.
